Disappearing applications with iPhone 3.0

OK so the don't actually disappear but something odd does happen than can get you worried if you're not expecting it.

If you have more than one page of applications applying the update will cause a small glitch.  The addition of the Voice Memo app will cause the application in the bottom right of your first page to move, it puts in on a new second page without any other applications.

Panic not all your other applications are not gone but on pages 3+ and moving the single application from page two will fix the issue and remove the unwanted page.

And thanks to Mashable for their post about the immediate problems that can occur post update: iPhone 3.0 Problems? Here?s the Solution.

  1. Thanks for that, I didn’t realise there was a 3rd page!

  2. @Dave Glad you found it helpful

  3. I have lost a few apps by flicking them off the screen i was trying to put them on a new page but instead it disappeared.
I can search for it and it comes up but it isnt an icon on any of the pages.
    Can someone please help?

  4. @Sian,

First many apologies for missing your comment :(

It sounds to me like you’ve caught the x to delete the icon when dragging the icon across pages, this is a easy easy thing to do especially when trying to get the damn page to flip while holding the icon.

To get it back you can either download again from app store (you won’t get charged if you’ve already bought it) or do it through iTunes.

In iTunes with your phone attached select your device and then click on the applications tab. This is an easy to use way of arranging you applications introduced with OS 3.1 and iTunes 9, more information can be found here:
